You are right on. This country was founded by Christian Immigrants who fled Europe to be able to practice their religion. The majority of Americans are Christians and even the Pledge of Allegiance was amended with the word "GOD" and not Allah. You have to be realistic in running a campaign. The best thing is just don't ask and don't tell about Muslims.

In tonight's debate, McCain is proposing in cutting capital gains tax. Is he so out of touch? How many percent of the population will report capital gains for 2007. People just received their quarterly brokerage and mutual funds statements, and will see how their investments have shrunk considerably. Only the very rich who did speculate like Kirk Kerkorian when he tried to buy GM and forcing to merge with Renault/Nissan may report capital gains, and McCain again is supporting the very rich.

WHAT OBAMA SHOULD DO IS TO INCREASE CAPITAL LOSS FROM $ 3,000 TO $ 15,000 THUS REDUCING TAXES FOR 2007.

This will be McCain/Palin last hurrah. Palin does not even know that New Hampshire is in the Northeast of the US and not the Northwest!

Lizzie, I totally get what you're saying..but in an election year with rabid and lying Rove proteges running McCain's campaign, it puts Dems in a very difficult position..imo...

From a practical perspective, I don't like how Muslims are slurred here(aside from human rights issues) by right wingers because I believe it's making the moderates who've been living peacefully here for a long time get pretty pissed off...I believe we will see these chickens come home in the future if it's not stopped...

Both Dems and Rs have to come to the understanding within their public dialogue that extremists are extremists no matter..those who murder at abortion clinics are in the same category..would we want to slur every Christian that is anti-abortion because of the few who do this? Nope..but Limbaugh and Rs have hung their careers since 9/11 on the fear mongering..

I won't accept Sharia laws in our courts even if its "informal". I also am not interested in a community of people within the USA practicing these beliefs with their own court system, a country within a country kind of thing.

Sharia law can vary greatly depending on the Muslim. You see considerable variation among the Muslim countries of the world. For an example, before the fall of Saddam, Iraqi women did not cover their heads, wore makeup and when on to universities. Just as the practice of Catholism is very different in the US than it is in El Salvador or Guatamala, the practice of Islam really depends on the educational level and class structure of the Muslim country.
