The valuations on some large and midcap stocks are just stunning. COP, for example, trading at 4x FCF and a 15% discount to BV. Several of the drybulk shippers are trading at 50% of BV or less. BG (which I held from the IPO in 2001 until February of 2007) is trading at 0.6x BV and a trailing P/E of 4, (although the synthetic soybean crush spread is down about 40% from this summer, it's still above 2007 levels)...Some of the refiners are trading near or below NCAV and the 3-2-1 crack spread has been creeping up.
