Read up on the CNET site. I forget the distinction, but one of the two types (LCD vs. Plasma) is better for fast action such as sports. The other is better with oblique viewing angles. I recall one type is better in bright rooms where glare can be a problem.

I'm a fan of Samsung products. Can't go wrong there, or with Toshiba, Panasonic. I've never been a Sony fan.

As first time flat panel buyers, we thought the bigger the name the better the quality. We found out pretty fast that wasn't the case.<g>
