I've always admired people who work with their hands.

I keep remembering a blurb about an IQ test (maybe it wasn't IQ) but the child had to choose from among several pictures of people which was working. One of the pictures depicted a man reading a book, and a child picked that one. It was the incorrect answer, but she protested to the teacher. Her daddy was a college professor and that's what he did when he was working: read books.

At the time, I was in college and was very impressed with how difficult it was.

There's a place for every thing under heaven.

I'm fortunate to have know many people who got their hands dirty when they worked. Now after getting to be a grey beard myself, I respect them more while still allowing that the people who work exclusively with their brains are just as worthy.

It's hypocrisy that I can't stand. I don't see hypocrites getting their hands dirty; they are all 'intellectuals.'
