a lot more potential" For a hurricane? Columbia has several universities, is the state capitol and is one of the 10 most affordable cities in the USA, the ONLY one in a warm climate. If you browse the housing listings, the houses there are better deals as well. It's also as near to the ocean as to make it available in a day trip. Columbia is a cesspool. Trust me, I spent 6 months there once. Check out both places......I bet you like Mobile better.....and you don't need a day trip to see the ocean.
