He may well have been, and I may be just an unwitting dupe. I do know that it doesn't matter much to me. That speech happened nearly 30 years ago.

I also dislike seeing people impugn other people's motives because they think their own interpretation of what those people have done or said is more valid than the expressed motives of the individual they are judging.

On this very thread, many people have said, "Sure, Obama says he's going to do this and that, but what he really plans is X."

I think people should be judged by their acts and their words, and not by what someone else believes they really think.
