a decades long shift?

what do we call the previous 100 years? The US has been on a "socialist" path longer than anyone here has been alive.

I saw Paulson being interviewed and the headline streaming below kept saying:

"We are not nationalizing banks."

That bump you keep feeling/hearing is Joe Goebbels rolling over.

According to the former Comptroller General of the US, David Walker, the national debt is actually over 55 trillion dollars when the off balance sheet items are included.

That works out to $480,000. per American household.

I find it amusing that folks get their shorts twisted over the prospect of an Obama presidency some how doing more fiscal damage than we have seen perpetrated by the current crew.

And yes taxes are going up.

Folks who think we can vote for some clown who tells them that he is not going raise taxes, just ignore that 55 trillion, will get the same results that they did the last time they tried that approach.

Sooner or later Americans will have to elect an adult who will tell they can't have any more candy for a while.
