Yes, the problems on Oct 14th were brutal. I bailed out of all my stocks in the morning but couldn't tell where I'd been filled. Did I need to change my price or was it just a reporting delay? To be fair, much/most of the problem was with the TSX as I understand it. Took 2 hours for CNQ to even start trading.

I tangled with TD a couple of years ago over a disputed trade (and finally beat them).

Note that they record every single keystroke you make when entering and changing orders, so be prepared for that. I would also suggest that you keep a record of the date/time/person for every phone call because they record all the phone calls. You may need to refer back to one.

Better yet, I recently purchased a digital recorder so I can record such phone calls myself in the future. Nice when they change their story and later deny things they said. Good luck with it.

In the states, TD Ameritrade has a special phone number for their special private client group that bypasses the computer menu and gives a real person in a few rings. No hit 1 for quotes, 2 for trading....

Had a problem a few days ago after the open and someone picked up the phone after one ring. I am impressed with the service.
