McCain and Obama both spoke at the Alfred E. Smith dinner, where it is traditional for Presidential candidates to let their hair down and poke fun at themselves and each other.

Both candidates were funny, but McCain ran circles around Obama. If his performance in the other debates were comparably brilliant, I think the talk of the town would be far different than what I'm seeing.

McCain's line that he was replacing his entire senior campaign staff with Joe the Plumber was hilarious, as was his crack that Joe the Plumber had signed a lucrative contract with a wealthy couple to take care of all the plumbing on all seven of their houses.

Obama had a good line when he said he shared his political background with Alfred E. Smith and his ears with Alfred E. Neuman.
