So ALLOWING is giving FREEDOM no? I mean the philosophy of the govt. of the day was to ALLOW the industry to regulate itself... So by not having stricter regulations, your saying that the govt. was interfering??? I don't see your logic. Lose loaning rules were entirely the banks discretion and they were there because of COMPETITION between the lenders to get as many loans out as possible. This is the free market and the free market was the cause of all this downfall.
