Unfortunately perhaps... it may not be as easy to wash the mind clear of all traces of American history, and the sad racial overtones.

However, a child that has never been exposed to the history of racism in our beloved country (yet who is a fan of classic Disney animations) might not even be aware, or notice, the connotations in the alliteration.

(Oh to be such a child... with a mind still fresh and unsullied by some of the ugliness of life!)

Like you, I also notice the prominent ears sticking out. :-) But Lincoln was also rail-thin and widely ridiculed in his time for his 'big ears' that 'stuck out disproportionately', and I see as much of that earlier caricatured figure as I do the much later appearing cartoon elephant. <g>

However the unfortunate "Sambo" connotations are, sadly, unavoidable to anyone who has studied our racial history much....
