I had tried to avoid turning the discussion into one largely political. I intended only something more related to economics.

I don't like other peoples politics, so I try not to impose mine on others as the feeling is likely to be much the same.

That's why the Republican candidates were such a bunch of no-hopers. No Republican with a clue wanted any part of it - for what? McCain's motivated by some private obsession, probably desperately trying to prove that he measures up to his father and grandfather.
