OTOH some of the statements that I've read about how things will be worse than the great depression etc. are just way over the top. I haven't read 'worse than' but have read 'worse since', and that certainly could be in the cards. Nobody knows how many companies default and go bankrupt with subsequent job loss and the cycle that can create. Some folks stuck a big, big stick into the spokes of the world economy. We're flying over the handlebars blind. Nobody, certainly not me and certainly not you, nobody knows the ramifications. So don't be smug, be humble.
