All your comments on the writing, and how self-conscious the piece was, do ring true, as I look back at the piece. Since I am very solidly opposed to McCain, and at least somewhat enthusiastic about Obama, I didn't think I could objectively evaluate the arguments they were making, which is why I wanted to hear your take.
