So let me get this straight....

Hemp is from the male seeds....and marijuana is the female....

This seems like a real no-brainer.

Plant all the seeds you can get your hands on and somewhere down the road once the plants have fully grown....simply determine which are the hemp...and which are the pot. Of course...any respectable farmer would have to "burn" all the female plants and sell the hemp for rope...energy..etc. Heck, I bet a good farmer could feed his cattle with the left over female plants. Bet it would make a good hay. Of course "munchies" might be an additional benefit. Just imagine the local agriculture extension office personnel upon receiving a half pound "hay sample" along with a request for a feed quality analysis.

Wish all the worlds problems were this easy to solve.

OT: my grandmother, a farmer, grew hemp during WWII as part of the war effort -- farmers were encouraged to grow it back then.

Actually hemp is a set of strains of the cannabis plant.

These strains are identified by their low THC levels.

All hemp rope comes from the marijuana plant. So if you have any hemp rope at your home, you already have marijuana there.

Many different strains of marijuana have been bread to raise or lower specific cannabinoid content.

In Great Briton, there is a company that grows a strain that is high in CBD. Which is a cannabinoid that doesn't get you high but has great medical application. They take the CBD extracted and mix it with THC extracted from another strain to make the oral spray Sativex.

Sativex is available on prescription in Canada.

Sativex produces much better results than does Marinol. Or I should say produces much lower undesirable side effects than Marinol (THC).

Anyway, my point is that this is a versatile plant that can easily be genetically modified toward a specific goal.
