<<<What is the current standard for ADSL technology?

The current standard for ADSL technology has been defined by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI -- T1E1.4) This is based on DMT technology (Discrete Multi-Tone). Existing products are based on CAP (Carrierless Amplitude Phase Modulation) line codes. It is possible that both DMT and CAP could become industry standards. >>>

Bill --

If this is a new website, then the above speaks well for your predictions. Otherwise, why mention CAP at all?

Now, having said this, let me tell you how my day began:

6:30 a.m., phone rings --- I dash downstairs, expecting it to be my trading buddy who often serves as proxy alarm clock, and say in my chirpiest, I-hope-you-can't-tell-you-just-woke-me-up voice, "'Morning!"

"Hello, this is _____ _____, from Bell Canada."

Ah, yes, the returned phone call.

He proceeds to tell me he checked on Alcatel and that there is, indeed, something going on that will be announced in the next week or two. No, he's not sure it's signed, but he's certain there'll be an announcement. Is it exclusive? That he doesn't know.

So, my take, based on all this circumstantial evidence, is that they're going with both.

I have to admit to feeling schizophrenic --- glad they've chosen DMT, long term, and yet glad Westell's involved, or likely to be involved.

A win-win.

Cheers!

Pat
