Saturday's Gallup Poll shows bigger Obama lead

By Yael T. Abouhalkah, Kansas City Star Editorial Page columnist

Barack Obama grabbed a bigger lead in Saturday's Gallup Poll, leading John McCain 50-42 percent. More impressive: It's the 14th day in the last 15 that Obama has been at or above the winning 50 percent mark.

On Friday, Obama was ahead 50-43 percent.

Another point:

Wednesday night's debate -- arguably McCain's best of the three get-togethers -- did not help the GOP candidate make much of a dent in Obama's lead.

Before the debate, Obama was ahead 50-43 percent. So McCain essentially has lost 1 percentage point after the debate.

With likely voters, Gallup has Obama leading 50-46 percent -- but only if young voters show up in good numbers.
