I agree totally with your conclusion about the diabolical intentions of the socialist Democrats. But my neighbor believes the Democrats simply don't care about the American system. He thinks their primary goal was to fatten their own wallets. Just another case of unanticipated consequences by the angry left. What really galls me is that the same people who created CRA are trying to CYA by blaming the Conservatives who sounded the alarm. John McCain was one of those who wrote a bill lifting Fannie/Freddie's lending standards. It would have prevented the financial collapse, but all the congressional Dems - including Obama - refused to vote for that bill.
