In this financial mess the media is portraying people suffering as innocent which is not really true. Today's Oregonian has a front page article showing how 92 year old man lost 40% of his savings, how his father grew up in depression, and had told them not to buy stocks etc and some other sob stories. The whole article focuses on pain and suffering caused to these people by circumstances without alluding to how irresponsibly they are invested. Only way person can be losing 40% at this point is if they are close to 100% in stocks, and I am not sure what business people over 60 have being 100% in stocks without taking responsibility for their actions. However, the media is portraying characters of these episodes as innocent who either lose their houses in foreclosure or lose in stocks without a word about how irresponsible they have been buying houses being invested in stocks etc. True, the govt instituted policies that encouraged reckless behavior but that does not absolve people of their responsibility. The very fact that they are now talking to advisors who are telling them to stay put and things would rebound tells me that we are headed for much more on the down side before people make allocations justified by their age etc through a process of collective puking of assets at the real lows. Also Bush thinks we will recover in the long run(time not known), that should be very reassuring :-)

Right...but where did you copy and paste this article from? I don't seem to find your source. You have simply mis-quoted (I am one of the organizers of the event that you have quoted from, and my responsibility is to look through the media to make sure that our speakers have been quoted accurately). This is why I highlighted to you that you have misquoted, and asked you to copy and paste the correct article! (I apologize, but I think I pasted this twice. I'm not familiar with your system here).
