Facts aren't smears. Obama's character is the most important issue leading us to decide if he will do what is best for America, not his associates.

Vote for Bill the Bomber or Joe the Plumber, I'll take Joe the Plumber...

I think that Obama trying to fend off any scrutiny over his 20 attendance at a Church that honors Farrakhan and teaches Black Liberation Theology IS AN ISSUE.

If McCain was attending a church that was teaching white separatist/supremist theology for 20 years, I'd be EQUALLY concerned and questioned whether he TRULY represented my values, moral or religious.

I have GRAVE concern over the continual and close associations Obama has with some very controversial individuals during his rise to political fame. I also have great concern as to what role these "facilitators" expect in return for their support.

Apparently you do not share that concern...

As for public policy issues, I think McCain has a far greater grasp of what needs to be done in this country. His concern for energy independence centers on national and economic security, not convoluted, and often fabricated, GW illogic.

McCain also has the additional appeal of not being the "favorite son" of the right-wing republicans, and especially the "Bushies". He's p*ssed people off in both parties because he's attacked their parochial pork barrel interest, while working in a bi-partisan fashion with those who shared his views. That tells me he will do what he believes is right, not what he believes he has to do to satisfy the far right.

In sum, I have a hard time finding anyone who thinks they "own" McCain. Obama, on the other hand, can be linked to any number of elitist groups (ACORN, Moveon.org.. etc) who are, in the case of ACORN, being investigated for voter fraud.

But this following statement, near and dear to me due to the 2 years I spent in Iraq, just really causes me to question his true beliefs regarding our soldiers and military leadership:

youtube.com

Sure, he's apologized (I believe) and tried to rephrase his words, but the fact that he stated it in the first place tells me that he actually believes it and has actually internalized some of Jeremiah Wright's political sermons.

With McCain (and I'm not completely satisfied) at least I knew this guy has some integrity as someone who doesn't just "go along to get along" as we've seen with Bush.

Additionally.. Biden represents the entrenched Democratic interests in Congress. That's why he got picked. He will not be a VP that just sits there.. He will represent those liberal institutions and keep Obama in check. How can Obama overrule Biden, given his experience?

Palin, on the other hand, was picked because she was dynamic and could bring along the traditional conservative Republican base, but not be a particular political threat to McCain's policy intentions. Furthermore, she had credentials as a reformer willing to take on Republican, as well as Democratic, interests in Alaskan government.

I'll be very honest with you. I think Obama REALLY means well. I think he really wants to do good works. But I just don't think he's going to be permitted to do so because he's a new-comer on the political scene and it will be difficult for him to keep all those promises he's had to make to get to where he is.
