"We sure agree there."

Good now stop using 'labels'

Tom isn't a communist. I know it because I am one and Tom doesn't agree with much of what I say. I am not a capitalist, I am a free enterpriser and have been all my life. If Fuld is a capitalist then I am defecting to China where capitalists like him would have been beheaded by now.

"Modern day Communism is based on the writings of two German economists, Karl Marx and Fredrich Engels, who answered the question “What is Communism?” in their collaboration, “The Communist Manifesto” published in 1848. In it they declare that many problems in society are due to the unequal distribution of wealth. To bring about happiness and prosperity for all, the distinctions between the rich and poor of society must be eliminated. And since the rich will never give up their goods or status voluntarily, a rebellion of the poor -- the working class -- is necessary."

yes....a rebellion is way way long overdue on the streets of Wall.

Joe,
I know I am as bad as the other side sometimes I get rabid in my opinions. We need to heal but sometimes when I see a tape like last night it makes me angry and makes me feel like others are just about sub human (not you) and then I join them. Some of the crap is unjust.

Maybe just maybe Obama can heal some stuff if he wins.I watched a long OPB about him and McCain today. It seems as though neither is as bad as the other side would make out. It seems like Obama has a history of mending some bridges. It appears as though he has done some of that in the Black community and that alone is quite fractured in their opinions.

The financial system is already in shambles so heck can it worsen. Please don't answer that. <G>

I know a lot of people do not like what FDR did and even what LBJ did but social security is saving a few people on the edge now and so is medicare. Can we afford it I do not know. FDR also accomplished a few things with his CCC and WPA programs.

My grandfather abandoned his family and left my dad his mom and two siblings. When dad was in the 8th grade he quit school to take care of his family and Grandma did the best she could. I know Dad started out as a boy in the CCC's and maybe the WPA before he went into the service at 17 or 18. So I have always supported some sort of social safety net knowing not all people are fortunate like most of us as far as family upbringing or the ability to hold a job etc.

After being employed most of my life I got laid off twice this year and had a very difficult time getting a job. Now driving a parts truck but getting by.

But I got unemployment (another social program) for the first time in 50 years for 5 months and it helped.

So I say make the world in a way so some can share and give back when needed.

I think back to the late 50's and very early 60's when the US seemed happy and strong. Tax rates were much higher then and the strength of unions was strong and the US manufactured a lot. We grew up in the lower middle class side in a way but life was good and I am sure the wealthy had a lot more Pizza than we did even at much higher tax rates.

Maybe it is time to look at how things worked in the past and to see that they were not so bad when we had higher tax rates and less disparity between the rich and middle and lower classes. They did not call that socialism in the 50's and 60's at least I do not think they did. Maybe the John Birchers but what the heck.

Tom
