"Focusing on just the portion of MOT that pertains to Nextel, are you aware and at liberty to discuss the type of R&D projects they are working on? Is the next generation Nextel phone going to have more bells and whistles than the current features? Any info appreciated."

Although I'm not in the iDEN development loop since my move to CIG/Iridium, I am aware of some new developments. Unfortunately, if I told you, I'd have to kill you and then myself. Since it's no secret, the data feature is being worked on heavily.

Straight from the Department of Redundancy Department, MOT's LMPS has an army of engineers working on iDEN R&D. Suffice it to say that most, if not all, of the features available/soon-to-be available on PCS digital cellular phones that are currently not available on iDEN phones are being addressed by MOT.

The new phone will be smaller, weigh less and have longer battery life. As far as additional features, not sure.
