I expect to see Boehner lose the minority leader position in the next congress. I see Blunt as the probable successor. Given his role in the bailout negotiations, he seems to have the confidence of a larger portion of the caucus.

As for the senate, I would be as surprised to see McConnell lose as I was to see Daschle. It can, of course, happen, but the odds are clearly against it. I forget who is the whip on the Rep side in the Senate. If McConnell were to lose, I assume he would become the minority leader.

If McCain picked Palin as his VP, can you imagine who he would pick for other key posts, like Supreme Court Justices, Attorney General, and all the others? What "qualifications" would one need to meet his "standards" for all of these other critical posts? Chilling thoughts...
