Salty - Don Coxe has said the strength in the US $ is temporary - something about the unwinding of hedge funds. The deficit next year will be stunning as well. It looks like gold woke up a bit over night.

S&P,
It doesn't directly affect internal trade but is critical for exports. Yes that is the simple answer.. but how does that get J6P spending... how does that give the US buying power.. how does that fix more than a narrow band of manufacturers many building offshore.. Sounds a lot alike Elisabeth May in the French Debate saying we need to devalue the loonie to get the economy going .. I didn't like paying 150% of US list on everything I buy ... that's what is happening to the US.. :O) Energy up to flat in a stable to modestly rising USD environment seems better net net to me for the US.. and investing in general..

just my 2cents..
