Bottom line, How does the upfront payment + royalty payment in this new agreement b/w qcom and nokia compare with the upfront payment and royalty payment in the last agreement?

Q is going to receive a substantially smaller amount of money in total (including the money earned off of the upfront payment) unless Nokia loses quite a bit of market share. The exact amount depends on the inputs, but it is clear that this agreement isnt going to be nearly as profitable as a renewal would have been.

However, Q did receive a 15 year agreement and an OFDM license agreement...assuming that the OFDM rate is still above 1%, that is worth quite a bit.
