Let's say that "10" represents the highest earnings. In the current environment, 99% of us are 1's or 2's.

That simply isn't true. Most people would be 3s to 7s, lower middle class to upper middle class. We don't have a situation with a few mega rich and vast masses of desperately poor (1s) or just poor (2s)
