forced selling period. brokers front run, short, margin calls to "help" those margined, by their firm, sell. then said trading desk brokers buy the bottom once their "client", and the rest of the subsequent new margin callees are just about done selling. they see order flow, and can judge the co-panic sellers, who of no fault of their own, now also get margin calls because of the drop caused by the last margin victim.

and of course none of these desk traders call each other at other firms to tip them off and run the shorts down lower. no sir that would be illegal, and bankers never do illegal stuff. never, well unless there is no investigation anticipated that is.

who is going to bust their front running while Paulson is blackmailing Congress to bail them out. Germany tossed $500 billion Euros to prop up their small system. how much more is needed to bail the US bankers. put it all into perspective.

greatest robber baron heist in history imo.
