>>>I would like to have some insight in open margin calls for hedge fonds/Lehman derivatives/positions.<<<

You might want to take a 1/2 hour and listen to this Don Coxe conference call. Coxe is much more focused on energy/oil but he is also "deep in the enemy's" (hedge fund) council. He suggests that hedge funds have been receiving beaucoup margin calls and their banks simply aren't sending any new money. Furthermore he suggests that they know each others' book and that there has been massive predatory shorting of the holdings of those funds perceived to be weak. Any doubt or surprise there.

BTW: Coxe is calling for the return of quite high oil prices in the not too distant future. Demand may be down here, but it is still strong in Asia, and production is dropping.

I held all of my energy stocks through the crash. Ouch. But I am holding for the long term and not discouraged.
