Consulting work great for retirement.

One of my brothers trained for doing expert testimony in retirement on road and bridge collapses and accidents after his work in transportation. Not the physical work that he did before but keeps him involved in the same line of work but from a different angle.

I've never done police work, but I bet it is fascinating. Starting with no information and building a case has to be challenging.

I miss the field work in my profession too. It was a mistake for me to move up to the level where I retired, which wasn't all that high but was riddled with political BS that I couldn't handle.
