The way to change those percentages, if they need changing at all, is through education.

Taxing one group to give it to another doesn't change the wealth dynamic.

McCain wants more tax breaks for himself and his wife. At $6 million/year in income plus his 100% tax-free 100% disability checks from us totaling $58,000/year he really needs the money.

McCain is just a greedy old gas bag out to take Joe the Plumber's money for himself. Does Joe the Plumber know this? Does Ed the Dairyman, Rosie the Teacher, Phil the Bricklayer know this?

Apparently they don't but they still may figure it out in time to save their bank accounts from McIdiot.

:)

Of course each politician will look at everything...Congress and the media and lobbyists will make sure of that...what a silly question.

Now back to reality and tax revenues...how is the Obama plan going to work with just increasing taxes on the top 5% and cutting everyone else's taxes AND increasing spending? Just answer that question...or simply tell the truth and say it obviously will not, it is a clever way of buying votes.

I had very little wealth when young and my kids who are young don't have much now either. Yet my personal little stash today is many times what any of my kids has. Is that unfair, something that government needs to even out?

When you talk about 20% of the population holding 84% of the wealth, a lot of what you're talking about is simply older people vs younger people mostly. People 50 or older have a lot more assets than younger people. Just a fact of life.

If you just looked at my wife and I plus our kids and grandkids, you'd see even more inequality in our family than above. But so what? Its because we got good educations and are older and have lifetimes of work and accumulation behind us.

Factor in education differences. The more education, the more wealth too.

This isn't an unfair static society where people are doomed to poverty as liberals like to pretend. People can achieve things and acquire wealth for themselves if they work at it. Its why people come here from all over the world. Haven't you bettered yourself in your own life over time? Don't you know plenty of other people who have?
