You're arguing with yourself here Lane. If you like the word resist instead of oppose, I'm fine with that. So here are the synonyms for resist;

immune, incompliant, recalcitrant, stubborn, unassailable If you and Tim like this definition more than oppose - great. But you are arguing at the very edges and it seems rather silly to me. But yes I often think conservatives are "stubborn" to accept change as they seem very "incompliant" to me.
