Is redistributing wealth a better function of government than protecting property rights?

What happens when the people who actually make the world run stop believing in a system that sustains a majority who consume more than they produce?

History is replete with examples where the "change" that a ruler brought about was exactly the wrong change at the wrong time. In fact, there are more examples of this type than there are of a preacher of change actually making good decisions.

Yes, 'Socialist' is just too harsh. Let's use "banana" instead.

For example- The Obama election, combined with a democratic majority in Congress, will no doubt
push the country to become more banana.
