what are you talking about DOING THE MATH. I said there are 50 million first mortgages and 1.7 million delinquencies. Those are figures put out by the US govt. Here is another article quoting those figures. These are the accurate numbers. There is no MATH about it other than counting which I assume you are capable of (but not sure).

Note that the delinquency rate today is LOWER than it was in 2002. Why didn't banks fail then? Because the GRAMM LEGISLATION hadn't passed yet, thats why.

The 30-year delinquency rate is still below levels seen as recently as 2002, the association said.

The percent of mortgages in foreclosure nationally almost doubled, to 2.47 percent from 1.28 percent, while the number of foreclosures started in the quarter was 0.99 percent of those 45.2 million mortgages, compared with 0.58 percent in the 2007 first quarter.
