They were (and some remain) so captivated by the packaging and the bows that they overlook the lack of substance inside. That's what ephemeral political spirits are all about anyway. Fortunately at least 55% of voters figured it out.

I just read yesterday that there are several governors who have higher approval ratings than Palin. Ah, yes. Here's that article. editorandpublisher.com Palin's 80% was a while back, and that's the number that keeps being repeated, but she hasn't been that high in a while. I don't believe any recent poll has been taken. I'd be willing to bet her numbers have dropped quite a bit in the last two months. - Allen
