so my interests will be very much affected, either way, and both bad, unless played astutely and done with agility, whichever path the electorates with the vote chooses

Maybe so.

But it seems careless to me to evaluate this exercise solely on economic outcomes.

I would expect a measure of concern, by a family man, between another raving jingoist at the switch of the worlds most powerful military, backed by an airheaded VP who consults witch doctors, and an individual who appears to be somewhat reasoned in foreign affairs.

Of course from your vantage point you are able to divine all manner of mysterious shortcomings in these American pretenders.

Just wish it was as easy here as we have to vote for one of these guys and you, my friend, will also have to live with that choice.

My suspicion is that with the current scenario of lower expected earnings stock markets/real estate will continue to breeze lower over next year regardless. However, on overall economy, if they can maintain dollar at a high value and employment at a reasonable level US will do OK; moment, one of these starts to crack we start entering your scenario of total deterioration and things hit the fan (high stocks/real estate values are not necessary for people to survive; they may be poor but can still do OK). The real question is can the new admin maintain high dollar value and employment? if they target stock market/real estate valuation as the current admin is doing we start sliding real fast because those items are beyond their control at this point; sooner we realize this less intensity would be the pain. However, my suspicion is the new admin in new zest to fix all world problems will tag on more deficit and drive us quickly into very inflationary conditions.
