Yes, its amazing. The yen is the only currency which has not deflated sgainst the USD - for the same reasons. Carry trade unwinding did a little overshoot recently. The trade was correctly recommended by investmentbanks (notably, MS) but with a 15% move in a coupld o weeks it is ahead of itself. In that campaign the yen gained even more than the USD against other currencies. The once wild JPY AUD trade which hit 100, totally collapsed.

It is often said that the japanese don´t like the USD < JPY 100 and promptly intervened when that occurred. It just doesn´t fit the picture of a "strong dollar".

Risk aversion in derivative markets driving the dollar,
also known as carry trade blowup. Gold will explode higher
with the markets, unfortunately for us gold bugs.

Kitco store now has crimex gold and silver bars only and
nothing else. I wonder
when crimex runs out of those - probably some time
around delivery, delivery. Rates are rising again. Ugh.
Can't wait for da blow. Gonna be spec - ta - cu - lar. -g-
