Charles Lee of GTE on Nightly Business Report.

Was questioned about the merger with MCI. When continually asked about negotiations, he stated how great a partnership would be with MCI and how great British Telecom would make them a $ 17 Billion dollar a year generator of income. When questioned about the large debt load with the acquisition of MCI( is it $ 58 Billion) he referred to the fact that Goldman Sachs was their investment house and that they had advised the GTE board that the debt load would not be a problem due to the combined companies ability to generate the $ 17 Billion a year EBTID.
