From what I understand the high lease rates are due to the high LIBOR - even with higher lease rates borrowing and shorting the gold with the even higher LIBOR as your rate of return on the proceeds is very profitable now. The higher LIBOR creates more leasing demand, pushing up the lease rates. I may be 100% wrong about all this -g-
