This should be the wave that delivers the scary low that we have discussed on this thread for so long. Now we're starting to see some real fear. These are the necessary (but not sufficient) conditions for a bottom. I still suspect we need to touch - and probably undercut - the 2002 DJIA lows in order to stand a reasonable chance for a bottom.

What frightens *me*, and has wipeout scenarios running through my head, is the utter disregard for *ANY* support levels whatsoever in the $CRB. That is scarier than the worst Halloween nightmare...

Yah know, the more I look at this, the more I think that SPX 1000 is going to cap the market for years to come. This iv may probe it (11/08), and then the 4 to follow (2/09), and then an "A" (1/2010) and a "C" to follow that (1/2012). Depends on how low we get on this initial motive wave. If we get lower, the old 950 neckline could be the line in the sand.

I'm still sketching charts. When I get some I like, I'll make pretty pix or scan.

Bottom line remains that I think the big "C" - or the big "3", whichever it proves to be - needs to retest the 2002 lows all around - and a scary retest it must be. (SPX 750) Then we can set up a 6-12 week rally to match March-April.

Les just pointed this out:

Shouldn't be too surprising, flight to quantity move in the early days of a bear. I've taken advantage of that so far by hedging long DJIA. I'm getting that hair-on-end kinda feeling that we may be close to the end of the relative strength there, though. Several DJIA names have recently broken support lines; if we don't turn it soon, they could do some serious giving.
