Ohio polling is very tricky. There is a reason why Columbus is used by marketers to try out new products--it is a cross-section of the US. Every other state that I can think of offhand is less diverse that Ohio. Even those that are diverse can be more easily broken up into better defined political "cultures"--i.e., southern IL vs. Chicago vs. Chicago suburbs, upper state NY vs. NYC and its environs. Ohio isn't like that. Especially now, as hard hit by economic factors as it has been. Parts that may have been more socially "conservative" in past recent elections have been forced to consider the disasters of the past 8 years.
