I am not going to bother to dig up the numbers for the US govt now, because even YOUR NUMBER (3.4%) makes it OBVIOUS that it is not bad loans that caused this crash.

Have you ever lost 3.4% of your investment portfolio and is that considered a CRASH? Of course it isn't. It is only a problem if you have 100:1 leverage, then any small decline will kill you.

One thing that that article I posted clearly stated is that the default rate recently was lower than in 2002. Well why didn't we go under in 2002? Your opinion please?
