NO, you have not backed up your tax position on earnings being taxed.

Can you break this out a little and explain why you think somebody that makes over 250K per year pays more in taxes than somebody making 50K?

The 50K earner pays almost 50% in taxes due to fica.

Please, don't start a conversation using ONLY federal income tax and insult the intellect of people here. Include fica+federal in your calculations. the under $100K crowd pays the most percentage wise in taxes due to fica. Now, if they remove the cap completely on FICA and make everybody pay it for their ENTIRE income, then your point would be correct.

Well, you can do all the work since you want it put down in writing. If an individual makes $50,000, their taxes owed federally would be around $8800. That is a long ways away from 50%.

The person earning $250,000 pays around $68,000. Let's use those as starting points and you can bring it up to the 50% that you state via specific numbers...

As you can see, the evil person earning $250,000 is paying at a much higher tax rate and the total dollars contributed is $60,000 more.
