It would seem so. But it appears to be much more satisfying to rail at ACORN.

But in the absence of such automatic registration voluntary services doing it (even perhaps with an ulterior motive behind them) seems worthy.

I've never been in favor of digging up people to register. I never approved of the League of Women Voters, which Cogito mentioned. I don't think everyone should vote. I support the right to vote but think people who don't know enough to vote should do the right thing and stay home.

I looked at my local ballot yesterday. I don't know a thing about half the choices on it so I will take a pass on them. I'm not interested enough to learn. I typically pass a number of line items. I don't think it's wise to try to get me to vote in cases where I'm not informed enough to vote. The same applies to all those registrations produced by ACORN. Anyone too lazy or busy or stupid to register has no business voting, IMO.
