Actually, I looked it up year by year over the last 40 years and we had the following:
24 years where Dems had the majority in Senate and House
12 years where Reps had the majority in Senate and House
4 years where Congress was split, with Dems owning one and Reps the other

Anyway, I didn't know that Dems had a majority in Congress for 60% of the time. I never really followed politics until after 9/11. I just voted straight Republican every time until 2004, so the only thing I remember is who was President and when. Anyway, so we had Congress with Dems in majority 60% of the time and a Republican President 70% of the time. Gridlock has been good for this country. The last two years has been big time gridlock with 49 Dems, 2 Independents and 49 Republicans in the Senate. Let's get more gridlock.
