Times Editorial Board Endorses Obama
By The New York Times

The editorial board of The New York Times has endorsed Senator Barack Obama for president.

In an editorial in its Friday editions, the board says that Mr. Obama “has the will and the ability to forge the broad political consensus that is essential to finding solutions to this nation’s problems.”

Of Mr. McCain, it says he has “retreated farther and farther to the fringe of American politics, running a campaign on partisan division, class warfare and even hints of racism.”

In the Democratic primaries, the editorial board endorsed Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton over Mr. Obama, but it now says that Mr. Obama has erased its reservations about him.

In the Republican primaries, the board endorsed Mr. McCain but it says now that he has “spent the last coins of his reputation” to placate the far-right wing.

My friend, I'm scared shitless.

I think we are such a great nation that not even Obambi can do permanent damage....

I am not scared.....but I expect the pain to continue and get worse for at least the next year...

You admonished me a while back about being a short term pessimist, a long term optimist.

If I did, either I mis-wrote, or you misunderstood. That is exactly the only sane way to be.

The problem is, every time we take one of these leftist swings, we embed more leftist crap into the system. I don't blame the Left for what is going on. They are advancing the red flag of collectivism and believe in it.

The problem is that our leaders on the right are so conflicted with by the pull of Religious Altruism on their Free Enterprise beliefs that they can't come on with a coherent counter-revolutionary program.

What is going on here is the conflict between the French Revolution of the left and the American Revolution of the right. The Left one believes in the supremacy of the state. The Right in the supremacy of the individual.
