Massive turnouts for Palin in places like Springfield Mo & Grand Junction CO - off the media and pundits radar.

Lines Form Early To See Governor Palin

People in the Ozarks will be getting at least one more chance to learn more about Republican Vice Presidential Nominee Sarah Palin.

She's in Springfield this morning to campaign for the McCain/Palin ticket.

Governor Palin isn't scheduled to speak until noon, but the crowd has already started to form around 5:00am this morning.

Of course a couple thousand people already have tickets to see the Alaskan governor and they get to sit in a special section.

But the McCain campaign moved the rally to Bass Pro when it realized just how many people were interested in attending.

Analysts say it's the youth who will decide the outcome of this election and many of the people here are very young.

In fact a nine-year-old boy convinced his whole family to come because he's such a big Palin supporter.
And there are some young women here who say they hope to see a bit of history today.

Governor Palin is the first female Republican VP nominee and one woman we spoke with says that's inspiring.

Palin supporter Jamie Kuzemka says, "I think it's great that a woman has made it this far, although, I'm not basing my vote simply on the fact that she is a woman. I agree with her ideas and values and such. And so that's what I'm basing my vote on. The fact that she's a woman just makes me be like yay!"

Palin's values draw many to today's rally
By Gregory Trotter • News-Leader • October 24, 2008

Thousands braved the cold for a chance to see Gov. Sarah Palin. Many don't have tickets and are in a line wrapped around the Bass Pro Shop. But for most who traveled here today, it is worth it to hear the woman the woman they feel represents the common folk of America.

"I've never voted Republican in my life," said Charlotte Christ, 37, of Buffalo. "But I feel like she really speaks to my values."

Others have been Republicans their whole lives and feel an urgency to support the Mcain/Palin ticket on November 4th.

"I don't want our country deep-sixed like Sodom and Gomorrah," said Christina Flowers, a a 38-year-old local evangelist. "And Sarah doesn't hang out with terrorists like Bill Ayers."

Though thousands are still waiting line, a large crowd has already filed in and waiting for the show to start. In the meanwhile, they are enjoying songs like "Born in the U.S.A." and "Taking Care of Business" as they try to stay warm.

From Steyn's remarks about Grand Junction:

Sarah Palin drew 22,000 people, an all-time record to her appearance, her rally, in Grand Junction, Colorado, a city with only 50,000 people in a county with only 100,000 people. That is a phenomenal turnout

The city of Grand Junction doesn't have quite 50K people so the turnout was about 50% of the town. The county has a little more than a 100K but its big and there are no big cities w/i about 200 miles. To get half the population to go to a campaign rally means people are enthused.

-----------------------------
Obama's strength is gonna be the black turnout - its usually around 50% or so but he can make it 100% (with fraud more). The youth vote turnout is always predicted to make the difference by liberals and never happens - won't this time either. But the Mccain strength is gonna be the people Sarah Palin attracts - the people Murtha calls rednecks, the rural, the gun and Bible people. Their turnout is gonna be bigger than ever before too.
