This market is so fukked up. No stock moves up or down on its own volition. If the DOW moves up, then stocks move up in unison. If the DOW moves down, then they all move down again in unison. My portfolio can be up $300 one minute and literally one minute later be down $500. That speaks to the lack of volume in addition to the ongoing volatility. Scheisse!

I said, "None of US knows". You and me and others on this thread. I didn't intend to suggest NOBODY knows.

It is crystal clear that it was, however, at its root, a problem of lending money to individuals who could not reasonably have qualified for the loans. Are you arguing this point?

The liberals CAUSED that particular problem. The Republicans tried to stop it but didn't have the political power. Dodd illegally accepted money from the lenders. Frank stood in the way of legislation that would have eliminated the requirement that loans be made to unqualified individuals.

It is a problem created by the liberals and when the Rs tried to fix it before it became a crisis, the liberals stopped them.
