I believe that LRCX was compiling a database of existing and planned fabs, their current and planned equipment status, utilization, etc.

Unless you have contacts with industrial espionage capabilities, it's not likely they'll share their info with you.

Another source if your pockets are deep may be VLSI research. I've seen rare press releases where they give snippets of this type of info.

Failing that, reading a wide variety of industry publications can give you a feel for some of the changes. ... but I've never seen an announcement that Fab 2a is being mothballed becaue it's got a class 2,000,000 clean room, processes 1 inch wafers to 1 mm design rules. The closest was some of the Taiwan and Korean DRAM makers saying that they'd reduce WSWs for a few weeks last summer.

Now back to Free Trade. Awwhhhh, who cares? :-)
