everybody is for removing the AMT but with trillion dollar deficits it just can't be done. We have to restore fiscal sanity and although people whine about tax cuts a crashing dollar hurts much more than taxes.

I suspect that the Dems may dump middle class tax relief, but I wouldn't push the argument that they should.
