Newark NJ is plagued with gang problems. The former mayor Sharpe James, also a State Senator has been indicted by Christie the Federal Attorney. Since McGreevey stepped down
claiming because he was Gay, a very large number of Democrats in NJ have been jailed or indicted. McGreevey actually was caught on tape using the "key" word Machiavelli twice in a sentence to convince a land owner that he would get better prices for selling his land to the state in return for a donation. He has been referred to as a non-indicted conspirator. Odd how people started falling after that. The list is near endless. Google NJ and corruption politics Christie and you will see what I mean. Many PA politicians are falling as well.

Here I googled for you.

Cory booker is the new Mayor and he is clean and respectable. The gang problems cannot be blamed on him...or anyone really. They are endemic in this society. Too long they were idolized in music and movies.

The permissive culture and it's "art" nonsense exacerbated a serious situation. Bill Clinton's "Gang Summit" gave gangs much more status then deserved. So many reasons that all worked in favor of gangs spreading and growing stronger.

Gang behavior in the tri-state NY-NJ-PA area has become a serious threat to order at times. Just as in LA if a riot situation occurs, it will be inflamed 10 fold by gang activity. No state or city is safe from their entanglements.

IN DC and many other cities the gangs are run from the jails after the leaders are jailed. Witnesses are shot before trial etc etc. You can see how tough it must be to prosecute them with witness intimidation.

You don't have to wait for Obama to create gang murders. They are occurring in every city in the country already.

In a way you can say it is women's fault. If women didn't have sex with bad guys their wouldn't be many of them at all. ;^) That is a semi-joke, but it is the failing of morals in society at large that allows people to seek status with anti-social individuals, like gang members. That is where the point is. People too frequently look at how much money or power you can amass and not the source.

Gangs are more sophisticated than many people understand. They place people without records in critical positions. They pay for schooling, including law school to place their people in positions to help them.

I don't think Sharpe james encouraged or did anything to make gang activity prolific. What city run by a Republican Mayor has less gang activity?

Certainly Obama could encourage gang activity if he also decides to have a gang summit, but maybe he would be smart enough to realize it only gives them status.

Like a President sitting down with a thug from a thug country. ;^)

For the most part I don't believe, with the exception of former New York Mayor Dinkins that any politician does anything but fight gangs. Now I heard the mayor of San Francisco or politicians within that city have done some suspiciously stupid things like sending gang members back to the country or origin rather than prosecuting them.

Dem or Rep it really doesn't matter when it comes to the gang violence. Fair is fair. Hell they do it in prison as well.
